Dynamic Range X1 Plus: Revolutionizing Moving Archery Targets

Every now and then, we get inquiries about using the Dynamic Range X1 or X1 Plus for moving archery targets or archery target retrieval.

Initially, we were certain that it wouldn't work with the original X1, but we saw potential with the X1 Plus.

Testing the Archery Target

We decided to create a setup with the X1 Plus that would enable shooting moving targets. To our delight, the motors of the X1 Plus were strong enough to move an archery target effectively. We utilized the new style target extenders, which allow a 2x2 piece of lumber to be fitted into the bottom of the motor chassis of the X1 Plus. We then attached a foam target to the motor chassis.

Finding a suitable foam target that was light enough to work on a suspended cable system, yet had enough stopping power to withstand the draw weight of a full-size bow, was challenging. We eventually selected a composite foam piece, now sourced from a reliable supplier. Additionally, the included paracord with the Dynamic Range X1 kit sagged under the target's weight, so we upgraded to a 1/8th-inch rubber-coated steel cable tightened with a ratchet strap.

Ready for your own X1 Plus archery target?

For those interested in replicating this setup, we recommend using a foam block no heavier than 8 pounds to prevent line sag issues. We are currently gauging interest to see if this product should be added to the Dynamic Range product line. If you are interested, please email us at info@dynamicrangex1.com. We have a limited stock available for trial and purchase.
