Cable Attachment Points: Selecting End Post

Before hanging the line you will need to select two fixed points to attach the line to. when selecting the fixed points it is important to consider the significant amount of force that is going to be excerpted on the fixed points by the cable.

As a general rule of thumb for how strong the points need to be a 180lb man should be able to lean his entire body weight on to the end post without it moving.

Some options for fixed points include:

  • Trees

  • 4X4 Cross braced lumber

  • Concrete Wall

  • Portable End-Post Kit  (Order Here)

  • Carbon Fiber Collapsible End-Post Kit

  • Berms

Line Height and Accommodating for Line Sag

The height you attach the cable to the fixed point will ultimately depend on the distance you are trying to span and how low below the target carriage you plan on hanging the target.

Example: A 100ft span of cable will have a max line sag of approximately 13in at the center point. If your target lumber is 84in and you would like the target to be 30in above the ground you should hang the cable 13 +84+30= 127in above the ground.

  • Test carriage before placing on the line  (REMINDER: The motors will lock up automatically when the pulleys are moving and not on the line. This is normal.)

  • Powering up

  • Start Power on is the zero position
