Installing Indoor Range Baffles: A Step-by-Step Guide

We recently set up an indoor moving target installation in Toronto that worked out incredibly well, and we wanted to share the process for anyone looking to run the Dynamic Range X1 inside a range facility.
This setup makes use of existing baffles and is fast, simple, and effective for temporary use.
How We Did It
Here’s a breakdown of how we set up the cable line for the X1 system indoors:
Identify Steel Baffles
These were already mounted above and in front of the firing line. They provided both height and protection.
Use a C-Clamp With a Drilled Hole
We clamped onto the baffle using a standard C-clamp. We drilled a hole through the clamp to serve as the cable anchor point.
It was quick to secure, sturdy, and didn’t require modification to the baffle itself.
Span the Line Across
Once both ends were anchored, we ran the line across as usual.
Mount the X1 System
Setup was standard from there, including remote calibration and target mount.
Why It Worked So Well
Fast Setup: Once we knew where to mount, the entire install took about 2 minutes.
Non-Permanent: No drilling, no damage, and easy to take down after use.
Safe and Secure: Anchoring to baffles provided solid support, and the system was well within the safe zone of the indoor range.
Perfect for Clubs or PD Use: If you're running classes, training sessions, or a police department qualification, this lets you add movement to your indoor range without leaving anything behind for the next group.
We don't recommend leaving the setup for public, long-term use. But for controlled environments—like shooting clubs or law enforcement teams—it’s a fast, effective way to setup your DynamicRange X1 line.
